Gül Emekci
was born as a daughter of
a teacher family in Usak
(1975). Completing primary and secondary school in Burdur she enrolled in Conservatory of
Ege University in
Izmir
(1992). She
began to work in TRT (Turkish Radio Television Corporation) as a THM
(Turkish Folk Music) singer (1995). After her graduate she was appointed as a
music teacher
in İzmir
(1997).
She sometimes participate in
association concerts and she performs her works about THM (Turkish Folk Music)
in Izmir.

Teke and Ege localities effected her
performance on folk song. She cares the local dialect and also makes you feel
the manner of a modern performance. She performs folk songs very well, taking
precedence Ege and Teke localities’ folk songs and in addition Middle and East
Anatolian folk songs.

Gül Emekci is mostly interested in
compiled folk songs: “Compiled
folk songs are the sounds of actual happiness and sorrow which have special
harmonic structures peculiar to the locality.”

established (2001) and thousands of visitors listened her records of folk
songs. Being supported by her friends and by the messages from the site
visitors -even visitors abroad- she decided to produce an album (2002). Finally her album "Sakli Turkuler" took place in music markets consisting of Ege and Teke
localities’ folk songs (2004). |
